"PHISHING"- as Wikipedia says, is "a way of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication". Now, when a credit card is involved, some, if not all, might sit back and start reading.
We at Wi-Destination, were in a deeper search of phishing as we think it's a part of socio-virtual work.
What did we find?
- Banks warn you about phishing, but the steps they suggest, you never use them!
- only "GOOD" firewalls protect your sensitive data; not just a firewall, paid or FREE!
- Google Chrome is a pretty good browser to fight phishing- it's suspicious, but does not compromise speed like IE!
- Speedy "Beta" versions are more prone to be attacked; wait for the upcoming stable version!
- Beware of credit cards, but don't forget other sensitive items like password for your office email and all such things! It's not always about money!!
